About Us

The Anchorage Society for Human Resource Management (ASHRM) is the Anchorage chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 1974. We proudly serve over 500 members and support a local student chapter on the campus of the Wayland Baptist University.

ASHRM is one of a handful of chapters in the United States that have received SHRM’s Pinnacle Award not once, but FOUR times for outstanding achievement in chapter development and contributions to the advancement of effective human resource management.

SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. The Society serves the needs of HR professionals by providing the most comprehensive set of resources available. As an influential voice, SHRM is committed to advancing the human resource profession to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.

    ASHRM is a 501(c), non-profit, tax-exempt organization.

    Why Join ASHRM?

In addition to the benefits associated with membership of national SHRM, membership at the local chapter level offers you the following:

No additional membership costs – If you are a SHRM national member, designate ASHRM as your local chapter for free and start enjoying the benefits!

    • Discounted rates – receive over 25% off on registrations for monthly luncheons and other educational programs
    • Network: connect with former colleagues, meet new ones and expand your network of resources
    • Education: Our monthly programs and special seminars provide current and relevant information
    • Certification Preparation: Participate in our award-winning certification preparation classes
    • Certification Credits: 100% of our programs have been pre-approved for credit since 2007. Obtain all the certification credits you need for your SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, without leaving town
    • Legislative Information: Stay up-to-date on legislation affecting employers and employees
    • College Relations: Be a resource and inspiration to up-and-coming HR professionals currently enrolled in school and in ASHRM’s student chapter
    • Community Engagement: we have many opportunities to give back to the profession: provide information on workforce readiness skills to high school students, assist community programs and agencies - the opportunities are endless and very rewarding.

Joining ASHRM (chapter #200) as your local chapter will redirect a portion of the fees you pay toward national membership back into the state of Alaska. This revenue source helps defray the cost of monthly luncheons and enables your local organization to provide high quality training and conference opportunities for you.
