    HRM-Assessing and Delivering a Strategy-Aligned Culture

Research reports that successful implementation of a business’ strategy comes from the alignment of a business’ culture with the business’ strategy.  As a strategic arm of a business, HRM plays a vital role in shaping and aligning an organization’s culture.  HRM accomplishes this through an analysis of both the business’ strategy and culture.  This analysis provides HRM the information necessary to develops specific HR strategies tailored to the culture.  These HR strategies accomplish two essential strategy implementation tasks: 1) HRM identifies essential competencies required by an organization’s culture to implement a business’ strategy and 2) HRM aids in aligning the competencies of culture with the business’ strategy.  This presentation defines the strategic role of HRM as shapers of an organization’s culture for the successfully implement of a business’ strategy.

LO 1: Apply an analysis process to analyze and interpret a business' strategy, strategy type, and strategic direction.

LO 2: Conduct competencies needs assessment of a business' culture by assessing current human resource competencies and desired human resource competencies.

LO 3: Develop specific HR strategies that 1) advance human resources (HR) competencies and 2) and align HR competencies to successfully implement strategy.
